Learning Engineer

Layna is an Ukeru Learning Engineer. She has 10 years in the behavioral health field.

What is your role on the Ukeru team?

I provide Ukeru services, such as training and consultation, to organizations around the country and support them on their journey toward reduce and even eliminate restraint and seclusion.

What do you think are the three best skills you bring to your job?

I believe that  I excel in the areas of organization and timeliness. I am also a quick and avid learner.

What is the most inspiring part of your job?

Being able to quantitatively see the organizational progress each group goes through between their implementation process and their recertification. The numbers and data we receive from Ukeru customers as they move along their journey represent so much more – each data point represents an individual who is receiving trauma-informed care.

What are you most passionate about, professionally?

I am passionate about teaching the physical skills. This stems from my years of experience in dance performance and instruction.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not working?

I love to read. It is a personal goal of mine to read 100 books every year. I also enjoy running outside and doing DIY projects around my house.

If you had a personal motto, what would it be?

No day but today

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is popcorn with marshmallows. It is the perfect marriage of salty and sweet.
